This series of geometric teapots was begun in 2009 while I attended the Kansas City Art Institute. The preliminary designs were created using Alibre Design a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program.

The result of my CAD work was a highly versatile geometric module. The prototype was cut from a cube of plaster using a ban saw and hand carving and refining techniques.

The central module is the starting point for my teapot forms. I determine the orientation of the module and then build legs, spouts and handles intuitively to complete the teapot form.

The teapots are airbrushed with flashing slips and later soda fired to maximize the visual impact of their geometry.
